We have seen Starlings Form Dolphin Shape Chased by Killer Whale and now you’re going to see the amazing giant dolphin shape created underwater by thousands of sardines.
This enormous shoal of sardines appear to adopt a disguise as they swim in the formation of a dolphin. Grouping together helps to protect the small sardines from predators. Steve De Neef photographed the fish near Cebu in the Philippines.
He said: “There are sardines as far as you can see and there must be thousands of them. If you get inside the shoal they even block out the light. Getting the picture of the dolphin shape was just about being in the right spot at the right time. I’m pretty sure its just a coincidence but it would be to their benefit if they could imitate a larger animal.”
